Naples, Metropolis of Memories – this is the
motto under which Riccardo Muti and his Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini will bring Italianità to the banks of the Salzach again in 2009, performing Niccolò Jommelli’s Opera seria Demofoonte (directed by Cesare Lievi) and a Requiem by Giovanni Paisiello. In addition, countertenor Philippe Jaroussky will take audiences back in time to the heyday of castrato
singers, Ensemble Accordone will conjure up legends of Neapolitan popular culture, and Europa Galante led by Fabio Biondi presents an oratorio by Francesco Nicola Fago.
